Last week, Sony Music made an announcement that L.A. Reid no longer held the chairman and CEO position of Epic Records. The news came very unexpected and came along with an abrupt statement that was very simple, “L.A. Reid will be leaving the company.” The reason behind the expidited departure has now been revealed, as reports have come out that Reid has was accused of sexual harassment by an Epic Records female assistant.
The accuser submitted a letter to Sony Music, represented by an attorney, detailing occassions during which Reid allegedly displayed inappropriate behavior.
It has been confirmed that there have been “multiple” accusations made against Reid. Sony executives spent a large portion of the last week negotiating terms of Reid’s departure, according to inside sources. L.A. Reid is being represented by attorney Joel Katz.
Sony Music refused commenting on the matter.
The week of his departure, Epic peaked the No. 1 song in the U.S., with Khaled’s “I’m the One.”
